Royal FloraHolland launches new reusable flower bucket

After a period of intensive preparations, on 2 March 2026, Royal FloraHolland officially launched the new reusable flower bucket Fc555. Filled with the product gerbera aqua (on water), the first transactions have now been completed. What does the further roll-out of the new flower bucket look like?

Every day, Royal FloraHolland works to improve its logistics services and increase efficiency in the supply chain wherever possible. With the introduction of Fc555, supply chain costs are being significantly reduced and another step is being taken towards more sustainable packaging use in the floriculture sector.

First deliveries on Fc555 by Colours of Nature
Colours of Nature is keen to start using the Fc555 as soon as possible. Michel Duijvesteijn, commercial manager at Colours of Nature (pictured), explains: "Selling flowers in retail is a profession. Colours of Nature was created to optimally serve the retail channel and manage everything related to gerbera. We have five members who grow gerberas all year round at nine farms in the Netherlands. In total, our farms produce 240 million mini gerberas annually. This makes us the largest supplier of gerberas in Europe. Together, we supply a carefully selected range of gerberas.

To meet the needs of retailers, not only is the range important, but also a high degree of efficiency. The transition from Fc996 to Fc555 means less handling in our greenhouses, as support shelving is no longer necessary when using Fc555. This also reduces the storage space required at our farms. Tests have shown that the risk of damage is reduced in the new packaging. We are pleased that we can now start using this new reusable flower bucket as the first product group."

Phased roll-out
A phased introduction per product group has been chosen to guarantee sufficient availability, even during busy periods. Use for product groups other than those officially released is therefore not permitted.

The use of Gerbera Aqua will continue to be expanded in phases over the coming period, followed by Gerbera Diamond. The release of this second group is currently planned for around June 2026. More information will follow once the final date has been confirmed. Other product groups will follow after the summer of 2026.
