In Germany, ornamental plant producer Emsflower in Emsbüren, Lower Saxony, is marking its 20th anniversary by opening its production facilities to the public. The company will donate all proceeds from ticket sales as well as food and beverage revenue to social projects.

Part of the funds will go to the association Emsflower hilft Afrika, while another portion will support local clubs, schools and community initiatives in need of assistance. "We wanted not only to celebrate our anniversary, but also to take responsibility and give something back," said Managing Director Tom Kuipers.
During the anniversary event, visitors will be given access to the production facilities of what the company describes as Europe's largest grower of bedding and potted plants. Guided tours through the greenhouses will include several information stations where employees explain their daily work, outline production processes and answer questions. The program also features interactive activities designed to give visitors a practical insight into modern plant production.

Families and children are also invited. A dedicated children's area, including a bouncy castle and creative activities, will allow younger visitors to take on the role of "junior gardeners."
"For two decades, Emsflower has stood for quality, innovation and sustainable growth in modern plant production," Kuipers said. "For us, sustainability is not a trend, but a conviction. We take responsibility—for our environment, for our employees and for future generations."
One visible example is the company's own wood-fired combined heat and power (CHP) plant, which supplies a significant share of its energy demand from renewable sources. By using waste wood as fuel, the company reduces its reliance on fossil fuels and lowers CO₂ emissions.
