HTA celebrates inspirational women leaders on International Women’s Day

In celebration of International Women's Day on Sunday, 8 March, the Horticultural Trades Association (HTA) calls on women across environmental horticulture to be visible and recognised for the inspiration they give to others in the sector and at every stage of their careers.

The HTA's commitment to inclusivity is embedded throughout its way of working, with a strong emphasis on inclusion within its organisational values and in its position as a sector body. The HTA is proud to champion the sector-wide Access All Areas EDI Charter and programme of work, and is a supporter of key groups such as Women in Horticulture and the Young People in Horticulture Association (YPHA).

Fran Barnes, Chief Executive of the Horticultural Trades Association

Fran Barnes, Chief Executive of the Horticultural Trades Association (HTA), commented: "I am proud to lead an organisation that is not just at the forefront of a sector that delivers so much to the UK, but an organisation with so many women leaders in its own staff team and membership. As the phrase goes, 'you have to see it to be it', and we cannot underestimate the impact of seeing or speaking with an inspirational role model on those considering joining our sector or who are early in their careers.

"Whilst horticulture may have achieved more gender diversity than many sectors, there is still a way to go to ensure that we are encouraging and inspiring women to become future leaders. So, let's take the opportunity to celebrate all women in our industry and shine a spotlight on them today."
