New Guinness World Record made for "most flowers on a swing"

Singapore Garden Festival (SGF), the international garden and flower show, will return from 4 to 12 July 2026, marking its 10th edition since it started in 2006. Jointly organised by the National Parks Board (NParks) and Gardens by the Bay, SGF 2026 will take place at Gardens by the Bay, with a floral celebration to bring the theme "Carnival of Blooms" to life.

Ahead of the Festival in July, a launch event is being held at Takashimaya Square from 12 to 15 March 2026, where a new Guinness World Record for "Most Flowers on a Swing" was set. The launch event also saw the unveiling of the competition lineup for SGF's first Show Gardens: All-Stars Edition, and kickstarts ticket sales for SGF 2026.

Kicking off the festivities, a towering 5-metre swing which set the Guinness World Record for "Most Flowers on a Swing" is currently on display at Takashimaya Square B2 until 15 March. The swing features an impressive 12,888 flowers across more than 60 varieties, including blooms such as roses, carnations, lilies, orchids and hydrangeas, artfully arranged by around 200 community gardeners, students, volunteers and NParks staff over two days.

Visitors to Takashimaya Square will also be treated to an early preview of the floral displays and programmes that will be coming up at SGF 2026. For instance, an orchid display featuring 20 celebrity and heritage orchids is on showcase, with orchid hybrids named after Singaporean singer-songwriter Stefanie Sun and Korean actor Bae Yong Jun.

In addition, a series of free floral talks, demonstrations, and workshops has been lined up daily until 15 March, allowing the public to glean horticulture insights from renowned experts, including the Floral Designers Society (Singapore) (FDSS) and Singapore Penjing & Stone Appreciation Society.

Other highlights at Takashimaya Square include carnival-themed fairground swings, interactive photo walls, and kid-friendly carnival games like Coconut Shy and Hoopla.

To be held at Gardens by the Bay from 4 to 12 July 2026, the upcoming SGF 2026 promises a dazzling showcase of tropical landscape design and horticulture, as well as landscape and floral displays by leading international designers and local talents.

A festival hallmark since its debut at the first SGF in 2006, the Show Gardens competition will return with a special All-Stars edition to commemorate SGF's 10th edition. Festival-goers can also look forward to SGF's signature Floral Windows to the World Championship (FWWC). The dynamic format brings world-class floral artistry to life through an exciting live competition where 17 international floral masters will compete across six elimination rounds over three days, creating striking floral works under pressure. The competition will culminate in the crowning of one Grand Champion at the FWWC Finals Dinner, where a final showdown among the top three finalists will play out in front of a live audience. The Singapore Orchid Show, organised in partnership with Orchid Society of South East Asia, will make a comeback at SGF 2026, featuring rare, unique and award-winning orchid varieties grown by hobbyists and industry players. These orchids, including warm and cool-growing species and hybrids found in different regions around the world, will be on display at the Flower Dome, Gardens by the Bay.
