In Germany, a public tulip event was organised in Berlin to celebrate Dutch tulip production and strengthen ties between the Netherlands and Germany. On 14 March 2026, the TulipDay Foundation, together with the Dutch Embassy in Germany, hosted a spring event at the square next to the Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedächtniskirche in central Berlin. For the second consecutive year, Dutch growers created a temporary picking garden with more than 50,000 tulips in yellow, red, orange, pink, and purple.
The event, held under the theme "United in Bloom", was officially opened around midday by Franziska Giffey, Berlin's Senator for Economic Affairs, Energy and Public Enterprises, together with Hester Somsen, the Dutch Ambassador to Germany. After the opening, visitors were invited to enter the garden and pick their own tulips.
TulipDay Berlin attracted an estimated 6,000 visitors. Each visitor was able to take home a free bouquet of tulips.

Hester Somsen, Dutch Ambassador to Germany, said: "After the first edition, it was immediately clear that we wanted to celebrate a Dutch tulip festival in Berlin again in 2026. The theme 'United in Bloom' reflects the close relationship we share with Germany. The thousands of smiling visitors once again showed that the tulip is a true ambassador for our country. It is great to see the care and dedication with which Dutch tulips are grown. Our ornamental horticulture sector, where innovation and sustainability are key priorities, is something we can be proud of."

Arjan Smit, tulip grower and representative of the TulipDay Foundation, added: "We had a wonderful day in Berlin with good weather conditions, and our tulips helped bring a real sense of spring. It was great to see how happy and enthusiastic people were when entering the picking garden and experiencing the event for themselves. Many shared their experiences on social media. It's fantastic to see how tulips can spread so much positivity and joy."
