Dutch nursery Sunshine Grow, based in Pijnacker in the Netherlands, has begun supplying Nerium oleander to Royal FloraHolland from its own nursery in Spain. The company has applied its long-standing expertise in peat-free production of tropical plants to its oleander operation, making its 6-hectare Spanish growing site fully peat-free as of 2026.

Sunshine Grow has operated a nursery in Spain since 1991, where production of Nerium oleander in 13 cm pots gradually became the core activity. Drawing on Dutch growing expertise, the company established an efficiently organized operation from the outset, with recirculation systems and automation built in to keep costs under control.

The business now offers a broad range of pot sizes, from 9 to 24 cm, in both shrub and standard stem form. Within the Spanish growing sector, Sunshine Grow is something of an outlier, given its focus on serving demand from North-West European markets. All propagation, marketing, and sales are managed within the family business, keeping lines of communication short and allowing innovations to be implemented quickly.
The combination of nurseries in both the Netherlands and Spain gives the company a strong position in the daily auction trade, with close proximity to Royal FloraHolland and its trading customers. Multiple truckloads are delivered each week to fulfill orders. Sunshine Grow is currently the largest supplier of Nerium oleander to Royal FloraHolland. The 13 cm and 17 cm shrub, presented in the consumer-ready "Enjoy the Summer" packaging, is described as a strong-selling Mediterranean product with consistent demand.
The company holds FSI compliance, with peat-free production forming a key pillar of its sustainability approach, alongside geothermal heating and solar panels for electricity.

New for 2026 is a Nerium oleander in a 9 cm pot, currently available in limited volumes, with plans to scale up if market uptake is positive.
Sales are handled by Jeffrey van den Berg, who manages the Dutch operation in Pijnacker, supported by external sales agent Joey Stalman of The Green Gentleman. The products are being presented at the RFH Flora Spring Expo and at Het Groene Podium.
