India: Flower and fruit prices surge, crowds flood KR Market ahead of Ugadi festival

Despite rising prices, Bengaluru residents throng KR Market for Ugadi shopping; special prayers held at Basavanagudi's Dodda Ganapathi Temple. Bengaluru is witnessing vibrant Ugadi celebrations, with festive energy clearly visible across the city. One of the busiest spots has been KR Market, where large crowds have gathered to buy flowers and fruits essential for the festival. From early morning, the market has been buzzing with activity as people rush to complete their festive shopping.

Traders say that the demand for flowers and fruits has gone up significantly ahead of Ugadi, leading to a noticeable increase in prices. Despite the rise, shoppers are not holding back, choosing to celebrate the festival in full spirit.

Meanwhile, special religious rituals are being conducted across temples in the city. At the famous Dodda Ganapathi Temple in Basavanagudi, special pujas including ksheerabhisheka are being performed. A large number of devotees have gathered at the temple to offer prayers and seek blessings on the occasion of Ugadi.

Overall, Bengaluru is celebrating Ugadi with devotion and enthusiasm, blending tradition, shopping, and spirituality despite rising costs.
