Ohio communities receive grants to help fight spotted lanternfly

The Ohio Department of Agriculture announced Wednesday that it has launched a new grant program to help communities fight the spread of the invasive spotted lanternfly and its host, the tree of heaven.

The spread of the spotted lanternfly has gotten worse in Ohio over the years.

Early this year, ODA issued a statewide quarantine for the insect, when previously, only 18 counties were under the quarantine.
