New Lisianthus Lisanne Soft Pink introduced to the market

The first Lisianthus Lisanne Soft Pink, supplied since early March, have already been well received by buyers. Although it has only just been introduced, demand for this new variety is already increasing. The supply of the new soft pink Lisianthus starts just in time for the upcoming wedding season, which starts in April and peaks in May and June. Bridal couples choose their flowers during a trial session with the florist, and Lisanne Soft Pink is expected to become a popular choice. The shade perfectly complements trendy wedding colours such as mocha and coffee, and natural shades such as sand and cream.

Anneke van Wijk, florist and office manager at Kwekerij Waalzicht, also observes a growing demand: "In the floristry sector, we are seeing increasing demand for Lisianthus in soft pink shades. This colour segment has been around for a while, but we are noticing rising interest — especially as we approach the wedding season and summer. This trend is evident both in the Netherlands and internationally."

Sven Halman, Sales Manager at Lugt Lisianthus reacts to the first harvested Lisanne Soft Pink: "Demand is already increasing, and the soft pink colour of this Lisianthus is a real asset to the wedding segment that is starting soon.''

In addition to the wedding season, grower Sakata also forecasts good opportunities for a broader segment, such as Mother's Day or other romantic flower-gifting occasions: "This new Lisanne variety is a valuable addition to the Lisianthus range. The soft pink double bloom features a vibrant green centre and has a romantic feel. The flowers open beautifully, with a pale white-pink gradation in part of the flowers as soon as they open more. They have a good vase life, which was tested by Royal Flora Holland in their shelf-life test," says Niels Steenvoorden, Head Product Management at Sakata.

Buyers' experiences
Together with growers Lugt Lisianthus and Waalzicht, Sakata launched a campaign to introduce trade and florists to the new Lisanne variety. This campaign includes treating buyers to a bouquet of Lisanne Soft Pink, to show them how promising this Lisianthus variety is.
