Terra Nova Nurseries has introduced Heuchera 'Sea Glass', a luminous new variety with rounded, scalloped foliage. Its foliage forms a tidy mound, offering a crisp contrast to darker companions.
Heuchera 'Sea Glass' grows with a moderate, clumping habit and brings a breath of coastal calm to gardens with its soft mint-lime, gently ruffled leaves that glow like sunlit sea glass. The new variety offers slender stems in the summer that burst with delicate white-sand blooms from May through June, adding a soft shimmer to the scene. 'Sea Glass' is deer-resistant and drought-tolerant once established and strongly attracts pollinators. It displays nice winter color, adding immense landscape value to woodland borders, shade gardens and containers.

'Sea Glass' exhibits its most active growth during spring, flourishing in full sun to partial shade and moderately well-drained, organic type soil. The variety has average water needs; it is better to be too dry than too wet when established. It reaches a height of 9", width of 16" and flower height of 28".

Terra Nova's breeding team recommends drying 'Sea Glass' slightly between waterings during finishing time in the greenhouse. Finishing growers can expect the finish time from a liner to a 4-inch pot to be six to eight weeks; finish time from a liner to a 1-gallon pot is 10-12 weeks. Heuchera 'Sea Glass' is suited for USDA Hardiness Zones 4-9.
