Registration open for Royal FloraHolland Sustainability Award

Registration for the Royal FloraHolland Sustainability Award has officially opened. This award is intended for member growers with sustainable product or business innovations. The award recognizes, rewards, and encourages growers who contribute to a future-proof floriculture sector with vision and determination. For some time now, the cooperative has been actively committed to making the sector more sustainable, encouraging the entire supply chain to operate more sustainably.

With the Royal FloraHolland Sustainability Award, Royal FloraHolland demonstrates how the sector collectively takes responsibility for the planet, society, and the quality of business operations. Growing Greener Together—that is the idea. Whether it involves smart water conservation, eco-friendly packaging, fair labor conditions, improved business operations, or technological innovations, every sustainable initiative counts.

Winners 2025
Last year, Handelskwekerij Bruinen won first prize with their innovation "Little Spider." Using tiny spiders, Little Spider helps keep greenhouses free of aphids, thrips, leafminers, and whiteflies, making chemical pesticides unnecessary. Second prize went to Holla Roses BV / Ziway Roses PLC. The company demonstrates that green waste from roses is not an end point, but a starting point. From this waste stream, the nursery produces, among other things, compost, vermicompost, biogas (methane), and liquid fertilizer. Finally, the third prize went to J&P ten Have for their innovation "Sprayventive," a smart production line that helps growers significantly reduce their use of chemical agents. Read here what winning the Sustainability Award has brought them.

Members can submit their initiatives until August 15. Entries will be judged by an expert jury in the areas of sustainability, impact, and feasibility. A public vote will also follow and count toward the final evaluation. The top 3 winners of the Sustainability Award will receive, in addition to a prestigious trophy, practical support and guidance to further develop the communication around their sustainable initiative.
