Dusty Schlinsog, Turnpike Greenhouse:

"US (WI): "Flowers galore for everyone all summer"

It’s time for flowers. Local greenhouses are ready for anybody who wants to beautify their homes and landscape with flowers. Purchasing a planter or basket of flowers is easy. But another option is giving a floral planter of begonias that will bloom most the summer and have a lasting effect on the recipient. Or you can buy them for yourself.

At Turnpike Greenhouse on County Highway H in Granton, flowers are the main attraction. According to owners, Dusty and Brenda Schlinsog, they opened April 24. Their greenhouses are beautiful and full of floral plant baskets and unique arrangement with many varieties of flowers, including tropical plants.

This year Dusty built another greenhouse onto their original greenhouse, along with an expanded retail area. “I build around it and she (Brenda) creates inside it,” he says. Dusty built what he calls the “Redwood Café,” a place where visitors can “sit and submerge themselves in the environment.”

Upon entering the greenhouses, every floral arrangement is special and artistically created with color schemes that are eye-catching and awesome. “I’m more into colors,” says Brenda. “There’s a color-mix for everybody,” Dusty says.
