Consequences of emergency EU measures
Once it takes effect, the import of specific plants (27 races and 160 varieties) will no longer be permitted in the EU until the exporting countries can prove that they fulfil the EU requirements.
A phytosanitary certificate for the shipment from the exporting country is not sufficient. Shipments that were or are already underway from third countries before the date that the EU measures legally came into force are exempt.
Import of Phoenix roebelenii and Phoenix reclinata palms
An initial analysis by the Netherlands Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA) indicates that the largest Dutch import flow to be affected by these measures involves Phoenix roebelenii and Phoenix reclinata palm trees.
