US (WV): Blatt's Greenhouse closing doors after 32 years

There are many gardens and homes throughout the Tri-State that Blatt's Greenhouse in Lavalette has serviced in the past 32 years.

According to owner Mike Blatt, he has met many wonderful customers throughout the years, but it is time to shut the doors on the long-standing family-owned greenhouse.

"I am 74. It is just that time in life," Blatt said.

Blatt's daughter, Nikki Blatt Purley, has been a co-owner with her father for several years, but 16-hour days are a lot harder to maintain with a family.

"Nikki wants to spend more time with her family and live - go out and do more stuff," the senior Blatt said.

The business began at Blatt's residence 32 years ago as a small greenhouse beside the family home on Beech Fork Road. As time passed and the business continued to grow, the business was moved to its familiar space on Rt. 152 in Lavalett.
