Canada (BC): Famous rose breeder to attend annual Fraser Pacific Rose Society show

George Mander of Coquitlam is famous all over the world for breeding one of the best roses ever, a beautiful red-and-yellow miniature called Glowing Amber.

Yet in B.C., Mander is still relatively unknown and the rose that brought him international recognition is not widely grown. Which is a bit of a mystery.

This weekend, Mander will attend the annual Fraser Pacific Rose Society show, which will be held tomorrow and Sunday at the Dogwood Pavilion on Winslow Avenue in Coquitlam.

It is one of the biggest rose events in B.C. with more than 350 exhibits. It will be held next door to the Centennial Rose Garden, one of the best rose gardens in Canada with about 1,000 rose bushes, including a special area devoted entirely to Canadian heritage roses.
