Pot plant growers well represented in front runners group MPS-A+

Companies that register in MPS can see now if they are among the new front runners group MPS A+.

The purpose of this new front runners is that they can show even better sustainability performance. A quarter of the certified companies reached the MPS-A + score and 32% of this score exists of pot plant growers.

MPS-A+ in brief:
• Total points >= 90 points
• Crop protection > 85% maximum score
• Fertilisers > 75% maximum score
• Energy > 75% maximum score

Last week MPS listed the first MPS-A+ qualification for Calluna grower Gartenbau Van Ham from Geldern in Germany. On the clock at FloraHolland, the MPS-A+ qualification, for the time being, will be projected with the regular A.

MPS Product Proof
Next week two pilot groups (flowers and plants) will start to work out "Product Proof" - a system which could give guarantees on product level to the trade. For this purpose MPS will firstly identify the needs of growers and will discuss the possibilities with them.

MPS- Natural Protected
Besides MPS-A+, MPS will introduce MPS-Natural Protected. In contrast to MPS-A+, companies must sign up for this certificate. The basic principle here is the MPS-A (or A+) score in combination with crop protection products which are only permitted in ecological growth.
