Poinsettia Gold wins Japanese flower award
Companies can nominate their products every season and Dümmen Orange was pleased that one of their agents, Hakusan Co. Ltd, nominated the new variety “Poinsettia Gold” as one of the candidates for this season’s awards. Masashi Fujiwara (Marketing Manager) from Hakusan saw interest from retailers and consumers for this new color in Poinsettias. Now, they announce that, after the success of Kalanchoe Piton, Poinsettia Gold took the Best Flower Award home as well.
Poinsettia Gold has an apricot-gold colour that fits the general trends of copper and white in home decorations very well. The breeder, Ruth Kobayashi, working for Dümmen Orange at the Ecke Ranch in Encinitas, CA for more than 10 years, is impressed by the new color range that is coming up in Poinsettias. Besides “Poinsettia Gold” (also known as Autumn Leaves) a more intense color is already in the pipeline. Beside the main red color in Poinsettias this development will help to increase the popularity of Poinsettias at the consumer level, according to Dümmen Orange.
