Shared Netherlands-Taiwan Phalaenopsis DNA database

An international DNA database is being set up between the countries where a lot of Phalaenopsis breeding takes place: the Netherlands and Taiwan.

Database collections increasingly important
DNA databases are becoming increasingly important in the management of (live) reference collections for DUS research. Naktuinbouw expects this trend to further strengthen and widen in the coming years. Hereby, internationalization is of great importance to prevent reference material from being sent back and forth. The database will play a supporting role in a broad and carefully substantiated DUS study of this orchid species.

Record your breed in the database?
Soon all orchid growers registered at Naktuinbouw will receive a letter asking if the DNA material of their breeds/registrations can be included in the common database. Any questions can be submitted by email.
