Lilies get their own top 50 during Dutch Lily Days

With the Dutch Lily Days from 7th till 10th June, lilies are getting their very own chart. Visitors and all those who are interested will get the opportunity to nominate their favorite varieties during this yearly event. Participants can also win a prize, with the one who nominates the most popular varieties winning a special prize. Lily League is organized by Onings Holland Flowerbulbs and is open for all lily varieties known world wide.

‘When we started the Dutch Lily Days 5 years ago, we brought the lily back in the spotlight,’ says Evert van Zanten, CEO of Onings Holland. ‘The introduction of the Lily League is a special way to draw even more attention to this event and to our wonderful product. During the Dutch Lily days, visitors are invited to select their favorite lily varieties. Every variety can be nominated, whatever type, colour, breeder or supplier.’ The lines will close on June 14th, so that everyone can send in their nominations once the Dutch Lily Days are finished. From the end of April, the website www.lilyleague.com is available to preselect and save your potential nominees. The final nominations can be sent only from the first day of the Dutch Lily Days on June 7th.

Participation
Besides participating online via www.lilyleague.com, touchscreens will be available at the Onings testing greenhouse for sending your top-10 favourite lilies. After the lines are closed, the top 50 will be announced, as well as the winner of the Lily League competition who selected the highest ranked varieties. This person earns a free round trip ticket to the Dutch Lily Days 2017 or a traveler’s check with a total value of € 1,000. Besides this, every participant will receive a free Lily League poster with the 50 most popular varieties.

Clear view on current preferences
Evert van Zanten: ‘Of course this is not only a commercial stunt for the Dutch Lily Days. This election creates a clear view on the current preferences in the market for the whole lily sector. Every breeder, grower or wholesaler can benefit from this.’
