July 6-7, Ghent (Belgium)

Optimizing nutrition of container-grown hardy nursery stock

In association with Dove Associates and PCS, this two day AHDB Horticulture study tour to Belgium will include a visit to the ornamentals research station (PCS, Destelbergen), which is hosting part of the project work undertaken within AHDB project HNS 193 'Nutrient management in hardy nursery stock', and five local HNS nurseries in the Ghent area. The theme of the study tour will be optimising the nutrition of container-grown hardy nursery stock and will include sampling and monitoring, nutrient management programmes and nursery best practice when using fertilisers along with irrigation water treatment techniques.

The number of places available on this tour will be limited to 26, and numbers will be limited to a maximum of two people per business. Passports will be required. Although accommodation in Ghent will be pre-booked, attendees will need to cover their own accommodation costs (€107-125 for accommodation and breakfast, depending upon room type), meal/refreshment costs and incidental expenses during the study tour. Late cancellations will result in charges being made to cover the hotel room cost. AHDB Horticulture will cover the coach transport costs, ferry crossing costs and the costs of organising the event.
