Netherlands assures assistance to Kashmir for floriculture promotion

Secretary Tourism and Floriculture, Farooq Shah today held a meeting with Houter Vealey, the agriculture counsellor of Netherlands for India and Sri Lanka in the embassy of Netherlands in Delhi.

The meeting was held on the instructions of Chief Minister Mehbboba Mufti. The meeting discussed ways to explore the commercial floriculture development avenues in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly the Valley, a statement said.

“The counsellor was convinced that Kashmir has tremendous potential to become the hub of commercial floriculture.

He emphasised the need for increasing the production of Tulip, Lilium, Lilly, Rose, Gladiola and other flower varieties in Kashmir and assured all kinds of assistance.

“The counsellor assured the officials greater cooperation to synergise the relation between the Dutch and Kashmiris as it will result in major exports from this state.”
