EP-Exotic Plant using Philips new tissue culture LED module

"China: "Energy costs down 40 percent, capacity up 30 percent"

EP-Exotic Plant produces and propagates young plants of Bromeliads, Calathea, Musa, Orchids, Anthuriums, Helleborus and many others in a 6,000 square meter production area in Shanghai, China. In 2015, they started to use the TLED of Philips and because they were satisfied with the results of this module, they decided to purchase the enhanced version; the generation two tissue culture LED module in 2016.

In this video, Exotic Plant's vice general manager Peter De Ridder, explains that it has been a good improvement. "It has a bigger angle, product is even lower in costs in buying, it saves up to 40 percent energy and we can improve our capacity by over 30 percent." Also improvements in crop are noticed. According to to De Riddder, the color of the plant improved and the crop is more equal in size. Additional advantages are that their electricity bill has been reduced, thanks to the lower temperature that the light generates and the fact that they can use half of the space between the racks, which generates space to add more racks.
