EuroAmerican Propagators files for bankruptcy
EuroAmerican Propagators is a big player in the field of annuals, perennials, grasses, succulents, poinsettias and shrubs. Starting material is produced on an acreage of 55 acre (22 hectares) in Bonsall, California. The company was founded in 1992 by John Rader and Jerry Church, the first of which also started the Proven Winners cooperative.
Most of the 180 people listed on the payroll lost their jobs, with the exception of a 'transition crew'. Thereby, plans of making a restart seem likely. Also, he would rather speak of a 'new start' then of 'bankruptcy', Rader commented.
The exact causes for filing for bankruptcy - during its 25 years of existence, the company slowly built up a wider network and good reputation, growing to a trusted and stable business partner producing starting material for over 20 brands and breeders - are yet unknown. Also plans concerning the possible restart are yet to be revealed. However, based on some reactions one can easily say not everyone shares the same positive outlook as Rader.
