Australia: Want to learn more about 202020 Vision?
The 202020 Vision initiative aims to boost green life in our cities by 20 per cent by 2020, which in turn assists in lifting sales of Australian nursery stock.
Already the initiative has produced great results in cities including Perth and Melbourne as local councils increase their tree plantings by the thousands, helping nurseries to better plan ahead to meet large orders.
Most recently the 202020 Vision team, featuring project lead Ben Peacock and Hort Innovation Marketing Manager Claire Tindale-Penning, travelled to Brisbane for the Nursery and Garden Industry Queensland Trade Show, meeting with growers and providing the latest updates about the program.
“It was a fantastic opportunity to speak directly to growers about how their levy money is being spent,” Claire said.
“Understanding the issues growers face in their business as well as finding out their thoughts on where opportunities for selling more plants lie, was really valuable.”
“I encourage growers to stay in touch with the marketing activities via the various communications platforms to see how they can leverage off the work being done.”
The workshops are part of capacity-building 202020 Vision work funded by Hort Innovation using the nursery R&D levy and contributions from the Australian Government.
They are designed to engage growers and encourage greater collaboration with councils, developers and landscapers so as to increase green life in Australian cities and towns.
Growers who attend the workshops can walk away with an increased understanding of the next steps and a greater sense of confidence to share the 202020 Vision story and associated benefits for businesses and communities.
The workshops cover a range of topics including strategy development and steps on how to ‘train the trainer’ to help build grower capacity to share the 20V presentation with customers, stakeholders and peers.
