The first pile was driven with no less than three hammers. The first one was wielded by both sons of director/owner Peter van de Pol and symbolized the Van de Pol family. The second hammer was for breeder Gerard Zwiers, representing all employees. And finally the third one, for the construction team.
The educational and inspiration center PlantXperience will include a tissue culture laboratory. There will also be room for (research in) applied cell biology, seed technology, product presentation, meeting and consultation rooms and possibilities to show students and interested people around.

The first phase of the new construction plan will consist of a production greenhouse (approx. 12,500 m2 floor area), business premises (approx. 7,000 m2) and an education/inspiration center (3,000 m2).
