Australian Wildflowers ramps up export capabilities

Grampian's flower processing company, Australian Wildflowers will expand its operations, increase exports and create 50 new jobs with the support of the Victorian Government's Regional Jobs and Infrastructure fund.

As part of the expansion project, the Laharum company is currently installing new equipment that will vastly improve the processing and packing of flowers for the Australian and export markets.

Australian Wildflowers already exports to China, USA, UAE and many countries in Europe. This project will support existing markets and open up new opportunities for expansion into South East Asia.

Elements of the project include:
  • New equipment for flower grading and bunching that will improve product quality and consistency
  • An upgraded cool room area that provides better storage for the flowers and allows better forklift access
  • A hydraulic ramp for safer loading and unloading of stock
  • Reconfiguration of manufacturing processes to get the most out of the new equipment
The 50 new jobs created by the project will be a huge stimulus for the Laharum area, and will support the business to employ additional Karen refugees who have settled in the Wimmera district.
