India to get first Floral Artist Championship

Indian Flowers & Ornamental Plants Welfare Association (iflora), the national promotion body working for the betterment of Indian flower farmers, greenhouse growers, nurserymen, florists and allied interests, has been a pioneer in boosting awareness among masses.

The Indian floriculture industry including a wide range of flowers, plants and ornamentals has now become a full fledged sector with almost 45,000 hectares under greenhouse production giving employment to thousands of skilled and unskilled manpower. The industry is currently going through a phase of technological up gradation, semi-automation and high quality inputs to improve the productivity which is the key to its success story.

All major European and other countries’ planting material suppliers including Selecta, Queen, Royal Van Zanten, Princettia, Dalina Gene5tics, Dummen Orange, Bartels, Fides, Corn Back bv, Kultana Orchids, Darwin Perennials, Barberet & Blanc, Rose Forever, Hibisqs, Kp Holland, Armada, Graff Breeding, ECKE Ranch, Red Fox, Rijn Plant, Taiwan Orchid Nursery, Bromellaceae, Florist Holland b.v., Anthura b.v., Dekkar, Briercross, Konrst Alstromaria, Van Der Zon, Santamaria, Monteplanta, Santamaria, Hybrida, Gebroeders de Jong, Albani E Ruggiero, Moralia, La Vilkletta, Armada, Danziger - “Dan” Flower Farm, are focusing on the emerging Indian market through their partners and associates.

The domestic market of floral designs, floristry, wedding & social ceremonies and corporate demand, is supporting the supply chain of cut flowers throughout the year and, as per the assessment, over 20,000 florists are active in India. A new trend is also emerging known as Flower and Plant Boutiques at the posh colonies, Malls and public places where GeneratioNext could purchase the entire stuff for the interior and exterior decorations. Thus, there are opportunities galore for them to cater to the new generation consumers.

“To streamline the process, the Indian Flowers & Ornamental Plants Welfare Association (iflora) in association with the management committee has taken the initiative of launching the first Indian Floral Artist Championship, 2018 (IFAC). Top notch national level flower designers, suppliers, florists, floral artists, wedding planners would be presenting the latest trends in floral art and nominate for this championship” said President iflora, Mr S Jafar Naqvi.

The championship is being organized co-located with 13th International Flora Expo, 2018 during 23rd-25th February, 2018 at the HA Exhibition Ground, Pimpri in Pune. The organizers are inviting the Agriculture Counselor, Embassy of the Netherlands in India, Government officials, industry leaders and to create more buzz the personalities from Bollywood are being invited for this grand ceremony.
