UK: CambridgeHOK builds new glasshouse for cacti collection

CambridgeHOK was employed to build a non-commercial multi-compartment Venlo glasshouse. One of the client’s specifications during the design stage was that the glasshouse had 4 separate compartments. This meant that the glasshouse was more versatile as the four sections allowed for different temperatures across the glasshouse, which is important if you are growing a variety of plants that need different environments.

They were contracted to install a pipe heating system in two of the zones, an irrigation system, air circulation fans as well as a full electric fitout all monitored and controlled by a state-of-the-art Priva BMS system which was installed by our M&E department. They also installed benching throughout the glasshouse, fitted a potting bench and propagation units.

It was a full turnkey project from start to finish, we provided through our sister company, CambridgeHOK Construction, all the civils works. This included the glasshouse foundations, pathways, levelling and the retaining walls. CambridgeHOK’s in-house design team and factory were responsible for the design, manufacture and build of the Venlo glasshouse.
