HNT auxiliary installations
At Holstein Flowers and Zuijderwijk Witzier, who invested in auxiliary installations for NGG, Wageningen University & Research researchers monitor the cultivation and climate. This is intensively led by a group of growers from the crop cooperation Gerbera with Stefan Persoon of Inno-Agro as the project leader.
Preventing wettening
The research focused on the difference between flower and crop temperature and possible wettening as a result of a flower temperature that (perhaps only for a short time) is under the dewing point. A Thermoview 48 camera was used to map out the flower temperature. Due to the accuracy of the meter extra measurements were added for reference. This showed that corrections are needed, so a grower has to take this into account if they are purchasing a camera for this purpose.
More accurate screening
It can be concluded that the heat imaging camera is a good aid to determine the temperatures of the different parts of the plants. This gives more information on the plant's status compared to the current climate registration where only temperature and humidity of the greenhouse air is measured. This allows a grower to screen more accurately with as an advantage that there are more screen hours with a fully closed screen and the same for energy saving.
