Turkey: 2 million seasonal plants are planted in Diyarbakir

2 million seasonal flowers and 500,000 seedlings are being planted on 1.6 million square feet of land by the Kayapinar municipality of Diyarbakir, a city located in the southeastern part of Turkey. This project not only creates employment for women in the region but also contributes to local economy by distributing these seedlings to the farmers after they are grown to a certain point.

Speaking at the ceremony, Kayapınar Governor: “We have developed this project to celebrate the Newroz Festival which symbolizes the arrival of spring. Here we grow 2 million flowers and 500,000 young plants. Half of these young plants are for fruits and the other half is for ornamental plants. We will distribute this to local farmers after fall when their vaccinations are completed. We hope that these will contribute to local farmers economically. We need to create value together with our people in the region. We hope to transform our municipality to the flower district of our city.

We feel a big change from every angle in terms of services at the local level which reveals that municipalities work within the framework of our government’s directives and their efforts are rewarded with the positive feedback from the people. These efforts contribute to increasing quality of life in the region by creating an atmosphere of peace and tranquillity. Flowers planted here represents the basis of human beauty and fragrance of flowers create a much more enjoyable living environment for people. We will move further and we will deliver better social services to municipalities with this perspective. Because we think that our people deserve the best. We know that here we are creating the future world for our children whom we love so much. We aim for their futures to be much better than today. “
