US (OR): Grower launches consumer app

Oregon Flowers is a family run business which opened its doors in Aurora, Oregon by Dutch immigrants Martin and Helene Meskers in 1985. Since then, the company has focused on growing cut flowers, specifically lilies, calla lilies and tulips as well as seasonal field flowers in Dutch glass greenhouses and modern growing facilities. The company's focus is to sell cut flowers to wholesalers across the United States and Canada.

"In order to stay innovative, we decided to create an Apple/Android mobile application with the goal to better supply our customers with up to date information", Tyler Meskers, manager at Oregon Flowers, explains. "A live availability of our flowers is now possible via our company app. Customers can log in and see directly what flowers we have to offer at any given time. Having this technology has boosted our existing customers as well as new buyers interest in ordering flowers from our business."

Oregon Flowers rolled out the app just before Valentine's Day and has experienced positive feedback as well as a new experience customers can utilize when purchasing flowers, especially those looking to place last minute orders. Wholesale customers now have the luxury to prepare their orders before speaking with an Oregon Flowers sales person.

"Our sales team continues to keep contact regarding pricing and quantities which has created a very efficient conversation", Tyler says. "We have noticed that the app has shown to be a successful tool for our customers when planning for their floral needs as information is literally at their fingertips."
