A new fully automated conservatory, capable of producing up to 3 million flowers a year for the needs of Saint Petersburg opened in Pushkin. According to the Head of Committee on Municipal Improvement, Mr. Vladimir Rublevskiy, thanks to the enterprise, Saint Petersburg will be able to satisfy over 50% of demand in flowers.

The project works started in 2017 and in March 2018 the enterprise began growing flowers. 1.3 million Euro have been invested in the project from the city budget, which is planned to be returned within the next 3 years.
The garden and park enterprise Pushkinskiy can boast the most contemporary equipment that makes the process of flower growing from seeding to watering almost fully automated. Special machines do even the labour intensive tasks. The humidity level, lighting and temperature inside the greenhouse are also controlled by the equipment. Should the climate change, the system automatically opens the shutters and the ventilation turns on.

The Head of Committee on Municipal Improvement, Mr. Vladimir Rublevskiy has explained that the construction of the new complex was essential in providing maximum import replacement in this sphere.
With the account to the seedlings grown in Kalinin garden and park enterprise that provides northern districts of the city with seedlings, the quantity of the “home-grown” nurslings will amount to 5 million pieces, i.e. over 60% of the required quantity”, noted Mr. Rublevskiy.

He also added that a flower grown in a Saint Petersburg enterprise costs the city 0.19 Euro, while those supplied by outside companies costs 0.4 Euro.

The governor of Saint Petersburg, Mr. Georgiy Poltavchenko visited the enterprise on April 2, highly estimated the greenhouse and was positively surprised with the level of automation in the new enterprise.
