Steam boiler leaving on a jet plane to Kenya

Last weekend, Agricon Horty Projects B.V. from Monster (Netherlands) transported a steam boiler to Kenya, destined for P van der Haak Handelskwekerij.

"We regularly supply steam boilers to Africa", says Johan van der Wel, "but so far never by plane." Robert Zuyderwijk of P van der Haak Handelskwekerij is pleased with it. "In order to prepare for the new season, we needed the boiler quickly. Fortunately, Agricon Horty Projects B.V. was able to have the boiler ready within 3 weeks including the modifications that we wanted."

"Steaming improves the quality of our cuttings and leads to a higher production of our mother plants", Robert explains. "With this boiler we can steam at least 2 hectares per week. This is necessary in order to have all the mother plants in production again in August. By steaming instead of chemical disinfection, we can also achieve our environmental objectives more easily."

This was a special cargo for Henk Duyn from Milestone Fresh. "The steam boiler plus steam tarpaulins and other items take up about 10% of the cargo space," he says. "A thorough preparation was needed to get all this loaded into the plane."
