On December 6, Plantpeddler will host a Poinsettia Variety Day. Then, they will compare 100 commercial and pre-release varieties, produced under true production protocols and environmental conditions, side by side. For several years, they are holding these Poinsettia trials and according to Mike Gooder, president of Plantpeddler, it is necessary: “It’s important to do a Poinsettia production trial as a way for the industry and our growers to see how varieties perform in real world greenhouse conditions.”
Last year, for example, they trialed over 120 commercial and pre-release Poinsettia varieties in the week of December 4 with representatives of all major breeders from Europe to Asia, broker representatives, and growers in attendance.
