Vineland Research and Innovation Centre (Vineland) announced that Dr. Jim Brandle has resigned from the organization effective November 9, 2018.
Dr. Brandle assumed the role of CEO during the organization’s 2007 start-up and spent the last decade positioning Vineland as a leading centre for horticulture innovation in Canada. He also helped build a skilled team of leaders who will maintain scientific rigour and operational excellence at Vineland going forward.
“On behalf of the Board of Directors, I would like to wish Jim continued success in his career and thank him for his years of service and strong leadership,” said Dr. Warren Jestin, Vineland’s Board Chair. “Jim has been a tireless advocate of the importance of research and innovation to Canada’s growth and prosperity and he will be missed at Vineland.”
Vineland’s Board has created a search committee to replace Dr. Brandle.
Other organizational changes
Dr. Tania Humphrey has been named Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) for the organization effective immediately.
Dr. Humphrey joined Vineland in 2008 and most recently served as Director of Strategic Planning & Research Management for the organization. She received her PhD in Plant Biology from the University of Queensland, Australia.
In this new role, Dr . Humphrey will oversee a team of research directors including Dr. Daryl Somers, Dr. Michael Brownbridge, Dr. Gideon Avigad and Dr. Amy Bowen. Cheryl Lennox, Director of Marketing & Communications will also report to Dr. Humphrey.
Gary Moffatt will continue in his role as Chief Operating Officer (COO) for Vineland, a position he was appointed to in 2012. He holds an MBA and a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering and Management degree from McMaster University. He is also a member of the Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO) and holds a P.Eng designation.
