Mr. İsmail Yılmaz, Turkish Ornamental Plants Exporters Association:

"Turkish ornamental plants export value up by 30% this year"

The 10th edition of the Eurasia Plant Fair / Flower Show was held last week, from November 22– 24 2018 in the İstanbul TÜYAP Fair Convention Centre. It is said to be the region’s largest trade event for the professional horticultural, floricultural and landscaping sector, attracting international and local suppliers. This year, nearly 200 companies were showcasing their new products, from the latest varieties of ornamental plants to innovative new breeding, planting, growing and harvesting technologies.

One of the exhibiting companies was the Turkish Ornamental Plants Exporters Association. At the opening ceremony, Chairman Mr. İsmail Yılmaz stated that the Turkish ornamental plants export value increased 30% by value this year, and this significantly contributed to Turkish economy.

On their website (www.susbitkileri.org.tr), the Turkish Ornamental Plants Exporters Association also mentioned that, in coordination with the Turkish Ministry of Trade, a buyers' mission program was organized on the opening day of the fair. "15 companies from Qatar, Bulgaria, Jordan and Tunisia participated in the program, and bilateral meetings were carried out with Turkish business people."

Visitors
The organization has not published the number of visitors yet, but a couple of weeks in advance of the show, they reported a record in pre-registrations, with visitors coming from 37 different countries. Last year, the show was visited by 15,209 people from 39 countries.
