Russia: Mordovia aims to become a leader in rose production

Twelve of every hundred Russian roses are grown in Mordovia. With that, the republic offers about 40 varieties, having the biggest selection in the whole of the Russian Federation. 100 thousand flowers are cut daily.

Big hopes are connected with the JS Mir Tsvetov, a highly technological flower growing complex, where Dutch technologies have been implemented. Five greenhouses have been built on an acreage of 15 ha. Last year they grew 34.1 million roses.

“We have created a new agricultural sphere in the republic, flower growing. We follow the world trends, meet the highest requirements, and are a leading company in this sphere in the whole of Russia. The republican government continues to support flower growing in Mordovia. Moreover, we are convinced that we need to build new enterprises in the republic, also in remote areas in order to create new working places”, underlined the head of the republic, Mr. Vladimir Volkov.

Mir Tsvetov is growing flowers in the Kadoshkinsky and Tengushevsky regions, the latter one being the most remote in the republic. The produce is sold in every other shop in the country and is exported to the Republic of Belarus. In the nearest future, the company will enter the markets of other members of the Eurasian Customs Union.
