Ukraine : Import of roses increased by 25%

The flowers and plants import to Ukraine is changing fast. Over the last year, import of roses and carnations increased by 25% and 3%, respectively. At the same time, import of orchids (-9%), chrysanthemums (-17%) and lilies (-14%) decreased compared to last year.

Interestingly, product form Africa almost entirely disappeared from the Ukrainian market (14% in 2017 to 0.02% in 2018). About 1/3 of all floral products arrive from South America, another 1/3 is imported from other European countries, around a quarter originates in Asia.

Last year Ukraine imported about 42 million roses, 27.6 million carnations, 25.7 million chrysanthemums, 423 thousand orchids and 357 thousand lilies. In terms of the limited floral export not much has changed.
