Over 3 million flowers will be delivered for sale by greenhouses in the Moscow region before March 8, reported the Minister for Agriculture and Food, Mr. Andrey Razin.
“The growers have a hot season now. In order to make all women happy on this festive day, they harvest about 40 varieties of elite roses and tulips on a daily basis”, noted Mr. Razin.
There are three complexes engaged in flower production in the Moscow region. These are the Podosinky, Yegoryevsk, LLC Mosrosa, Teplitsy Ramenskiye and Ornamental Gardening Collective Farm from Mytischi.
“Freshness and quick delivery to a customer is another advantage of our flowers. A rose grown locally is placed in a special container with a nutritious substance right after it has been cut, and in this way is supplied to the shops”, noted the minister.
In the greenhouse complexes of the Moscow region, the optimal conditions for growing flowers are created through contemporary equipment, with a fully automated process of microclimate monitoring and irrigation.
“Half of the greenhouse acreage for flower cultivation in the Central Federal District is located in the Moscow region. I would like to underline that for the first time in the region's history, this year at least 5% of the capital investments in flower greenhouse construction will be covered with regional budget support”, concluded Mr. Razin.
