Poland: Red LEDs lead to thicker rose stems

Red Naomi is an exclusive variety of rose of very intense and deep red color and has up to 80 petals on a single bud. What makes it special are its strong smell, long stems with little spikes and lovely buds. To achieve such an effect, it is crucial to optimize climate conditions by providing growing media rich in minerals, proper fertilizing, frequent nursing, right temperature and enough light especially in time of autumn and winter.

Plantalux implemented lights in a greenhouse in the Greater Poland province. Flowers were cultivated under supplemental LED COB Strong Red lamps from November 2018 up to March 2019. Previously used HPS lamps were replaced by 300W LED COB lamps, which resulted in decreasing lighting bills by 60%. Additionally, the greenhouse owner is happy because the stems are 80% thicker compared to HPS and better coloration of flowers. LED COB lamps were used 18 hours a day and temperature was kept at 22ÂșC.

Plantalux Strong Red
This is a LED COB of significantly high total red to blue ratio (87:13). What is worth mentioning is a very high far red percentage that equals 20% of the entire spectrum. Such composition of wavelengths makes for satisfactory effects, especially in terms of cultivation of vegetables, fruits and blooming flowers.
