Charlie Hall about rising production costs

"We have to make some changes"

In a two-part video series Charlie Hall, chief economist at AmericanHort shows the index of prices paid by growers. “We have had a 3.5 percent increase in our cost structure since 2017. And a 26.8 percent increase since the beginning of the recession in 2017. What that tells me is that we have to make some changes”, he says. Labor became a third more expensive since the beginning of the recession in 2007. Second is freight and trucking with roughly 10 percent higher in 2017.
