Data of Colombian fresh cut flowers exports, support the growing shift toward cut flower transport by sea:
- Over the past five years, exports by sea freight increased in tons and TEUS (Twenty-foot Equivalent Unit) by 177% and 149% respectively.
- In 2018, more than 19.6 thousand tons and more than 3.7 thousand TEUS were exported by sea freight.
- From January to April 2019, Colombia exported by sea freight 9.1 thousand tons and 1.8 thousand TEUS. The main markets were: the United States with a 53% share, the United Kingdom with 27%, Chile with 14% and Australia with 2%.
