Turkey: Cut flower and tomato exports started from Isparta

As the harvest started in Isparta for cut flowers and tomatoes, exports and domestic sales have taken off immediately.

Greenhouse production in Isparta has improved greatly in the last 10 years and continues to do so. Besides tomato, other vegetables such as cucumber and green pepper are grown in the greenhouses. In addition to the vegetable production, carnations are grown in greenhouses around Deregumu and Cunur districts. Carnation production takes place in greenhouses which are approximately 64 hectares big.

On the other hand, tomato greenhouses cover around 430 hectares and on average 15 to 20 tons of tomatoes are harvested per 1,000 square meters. This season greenhouse tomatoes have been so far exported to Bulgaria, Romania, and Ukraine whereas carnations were exported mostly to Romania.
