Best novelty at Plantarium 2019: Clematis ‘Zo14100’ (Little Lemons)

Clematis ‘Zo14100’ (Little Lemons) has been voted best Novelty of Plantarium 2019. The plant was submitted by Clematiskwekerij J. van Zoest from Boskoop.

Clematis ‘Zo14100’ Little Lemons is a breakthrough in Clematis cultivation. The plant produces an extraordinary, very compact and bushy growth and is non-climbing. Little Lemons blooms abundantly with pale yellow bell-shaped nodding flowers and can be planted in borders and pots as well as hanging baskets. Unique and innovative, according to the KVBC (Royal Boskoop Horticultural Society) jury.

Three gold awards
Apart from the best novelty, two other plants were awarded gold by the jury. Buddleja 'SRPBUD989' (Blue Sarah) and Hydrangea paniculata 'HYLV02' (Whitelight), both submitted by Kwekerij Lendert de Vos BV from Reeuwijk, received a gold medal. The jury also awarded eleven silver and eighteen bronze medals.

63 plants judged
For the 37th edition of Plantarium, 78 novelties were submitted. Of these, 77 were accepted for the showcase. Eventually, 63 plants were judged. Unfortunately, a number of participants were forced to withdraw their entries due to unforeseen circumstances. The novelties are judged by a professional judging committee from the Koninklijke Vereniging voor Boskoopse Culturen (Royal Boskoop Horticultural Society).

After the trade fair, the best Plantarium novelty gets a place in the Harry van de Laar assortment garden in Boskoop. The Best Novelties of the past years have been planted in a dedicated Plantarium border. The plants here can count on a lot of attention from the public. Besides this, it can be observed how the plant performs in terms of ornamental and practical value when planted in the garden.

Plantarium 2019 and the autumn trade fair of GROEN-Direkt take place under one roof from 21 to 23 August 2019 at Denemarkenlaan 11, in the International Trade Centre Boskoop/Hazerswoude. The opening times are from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and until 4.00 pm on Friday. Entry is free with a promotional ticket or by digital pre-registration.
