Australia: Huge demand for rare indoor plants selling for up to $1,000

We all know money doesn't grow on trees, but a rare, indoor plant is coming close. Buy one and you could be harvesting a small fortune.

Called Thai Constellation, it's fitting because its popularity and price is skyrocketing.

The marble colouring caused by a lack of chlorophyll is a rare mutation, the more of it, the more it's worth.

Plant enthusiasts are paying big bucks for rare specimens. Andy Roy from the Oxley Nursery said the craze for them is "unprecedented".

At his nursery you can pick one up a small for $135, or a more developed one for $325.

Seems expensive, but savvy green thumbs can quite literally grow cash.

Adult Thai Constellations can take between one to two years to develop but some are right now being sold online for well over $1,000.
