Partnership for strategic growth

BOAL Group acquires Holland Group

BOAL Group, together with its strategic partner Equistone, has invested in Holland Group Westland, a leading designer and manufacturer of high-quality screening and netting applications for greenhouses in the horticultural industry. The financial terms of the deal are undisclosed and the acquisition remains subject to clearance from anti-trust authorities.

BOAL Group, headquartered in Naaldwijk, The Netherlands, has close to 50 years of experience and holds a market-leading position in the design and manufacture of aluminium roofing and sidewall systems for industrial greenhouses. Together with its in-house aluminium extrusion capabilities in The Netherlands and UK, BOAL focusses on engineering, designing and constructing systems for the horticultural industry. Supported by its PE partner Equistone, one of Europe’s leading mid-market private equity investors, BOAL is working to expand its product portfolio in the horti-business so that it can offer better integrated solutions to its customers allowing them to engineer and build complete greenhouse systems.

The acquisition of Holland Group Westland is a significant step for BOAL. Holland Group Westland is an industry-leading designer, manufacturer and installer of both screening and netting applications. With its factory located in Maasdijk, it is also located in the heart of the Westland Horticultural area. Screens are used to manage the amount/intensity of light and the energy usage to control the greenhouse climate most cost-effectively. Insect netting systems are an important part of the “Integrated Pest Management” (IPM) strategy and help growers to cultivate in a biological and more environmentally friendly way. Both technologies have been optimised over the last decades by Holland Group Westland through continuous research and product development.

BOAL Group and Holland Group Westland are excited to be able to offer the horti-market more integrated solutions, which based on proven technology, will incorporate leading designs with an emphasis on functionality and ease of installation. Together with BOAL’s acquisition of West.Nederland earlier this year, a leading supplier of sandwich panels for the logistics, packing and/or warehousing areas in and around greenhouses, the enlarged group is well-positioned to serve its customers even better in the future.

Ronald Boers, CEO of BOAL Group, commented: “I’m very pleased to be able to announce our new strategic partnership. Not only are we joining forces with a company that boasts a range of industry leading products, but we add a group of talented and ambitious colleagues to the team as well, which makes facing the global challenges and opportunities even more exciting.”

Rob Wiersma, Managing Director of Holland Group Westland, commented: “BOAL Group is a great partner for Holland Group Westland to continue our growth in both screening and netting. As the product requirements continue to grow in both complexity and size, joining forces strengthens our positions. I’m looking forward and feel comfortable having made this important decision for our companies’ future.”
