Philippines: Growers assure abundant supply of fresh flowers

Spared by typhoons and calamities, Benguet farmers assured enough supply of cut flowers for this year's observance of All Saints' and All Souls' Days.

With the good weather, Department of Agriculture Cordillera Director Cameron Odsey said there is no problem with the supply of cut flowers for Undas.

Andy Colte, president of La Trinidad Cutflowers Organic Growers Association (Latcoga), said farmers have fully harvested various flowers on October 30.

"We have an oversupply because of the good weather," he said.

Colte said various flowers, including class AA Chrysanthemum, roses, Statice and Anthurium were delivered to markets of Km. 5 in La Trinidad, Baguio, Manila, including Bicol and Bulacan.
