UK: Horticultural business to start cafe

Kings Nurseries has submitted plans to Powys County Council (PCC) to build a cafe.

The business, near Lakeside Golf Club, says the 271 square metre cafe could create up to three jobs, one full time and two part time.

Their agent, Frederick Carter, said in the Design and Access Statement: “Kings Nurseries opened on the site to the general public in 2008, selling bedding plants and horticultural supplies.

“Due to the growth of the business since 2017 visitor numbers to the site has grown. The site is relatively isolated with no footpath to the centre of Garthmyl.

“The only safe option is to travel by car to eat or drink, increasing vehicular movements back and forth. The proposal is for a cafe unit on the site to be open during the centres operating hours to provide refreshments for visitors.”
