Since the beginning of 2019, Zhangzhou's flower and seedling industries have been "watering" and "rooted", and have continued to develop new vitality. In the first three-quarters, the planting area of flower seedlings reached 20,000 hectares, with an output value of 13.1 billion RMB in the city. The total export value was 59.6 million US dollars, which was exported to more than 50 countries or regions such as the European Union, the United States, South Korea, and Malaysia. Among them, the export of banyan bonsai accounts for nearly half of the total export of flowers.
Taking enterprises as the mainstay, the market as the orientation, and innovation as the core, this year Zhangzhou vigorously promoted the construction of a floral science and technology innovation system that closely integrates production, education, and research, to support flower companies to strengthen cooperation with scientific research institutes, support the "companies + farmers" industry model, and improve the level of large-scale, standardization and professionalized production. Also, the city makes use of processing, logistics, e-commerce, and other platforms to drive business expansion and market development and to further promote the sustainable development of the flower industry. At present, the city has developed daffodils, orchids, bougainvillea, foliage plants, banyan bonsai, succulents, palm plants, edible medicinal flowers, green seedlings, and other special products, which have more than 2,000 varieties; There are 185 large and medium-sized flower and seedling enterprises, including 1 national leading enterprise of forestry industrialization, 8 provincial forestry leading enterprises, and nearly 70 registered flower and seedling professional cooperatives in the city. In addition, two new floral projects in the city and 16,000 square meters of greenhouses were built this year, driving the flower output value of the project counties to increase by more than 10%.
At the site of "Agricultural Expo and Flower Expo" this year, Zhangzhou will give full play to the advantages of the floral industry resources and select nearly 1,000 flower varieties such as daffodils, orchids, bougainvilleas and more than 10,000 pots (pieces) of flowers for landscaping. Also, some of the gold-medal works at the 2019 Beijing World Horti Expo will give the first show to the public, and strive to bring a beautiful "fragrant feast" to all the visitors.
