Modiform expands range of sustainable pots

Modiform has added six sustainable pots to its range: two thermoform and four Thomsen injection moulding pots. These pots are free of carbon black. This means that they are detected by the Near Infrared (NIR) detection system used at waste processing companies. Menno Krijger, Sales Director at Modiform, explains. "By opting for a carbon black-free composition and reusing raw materials, we are fully committed to reusing existing plastics and reducing unnecessary waste. In this way, our new pots are optimising how we close the material loop."

Thermoform
The new thermoform pots are terracotta and royal grey. Replacing the current terracotta pot (black on the inside), the new terracotta pot is grey on the inside and has a lighter colour. Starting in the second half of December, the first new terracotta pots will be produced. For the duration of the transition period, it is possible that terracotta pots coloured grey or black on the inside will be delivered. The terracotta pot has the following characteristics:

  • near-infrared (NIR) detectable
  • Recycled materials; is made up of 100% recycled Polypropylene
  • Low light transparency

Modiform has also developed royal grey, an easily recyclable alternative to the black pot. This pot has the following characteristics:

  • Certified for recycling
  • Recycled materials; is made up of 100% recycled Polypropylene
  • Low light transparency

Injection moulding
The new Thomsen colours are terracotta R, anthracite R, mocha R, and royal grey R. The new pots have the following characteristics:

  • Certified for recycling
  • Recycled materials; made up of 100% recycled Polypropylene
  • Low light transparency

The new terracotta R and anthracite R pot are the recyclable variant of the existing colours. The mocha R and royal grey R pots are great alternatives to black pots. The royal grey R pot can be used as an alternative to the PCW grey pot because of the royal grey R’s lower light transparency.

Sustainability has been a core theme at Modiform since its foundation in 1980. From the very beginning, Modiform has been developing plastic products made from recycled material. Together with its customers and supply chain partners, Modiform gives recycled materials a new, usable life each and every day.
